7 Days Uganda Chimpanzee Tracking and Wildlife

This holiday safari runs for 7 days in Uganda taking you to the Murchison and Kibale forests to see the magnificent Murchison falls, enjoy a launch cruise on the Victoria Nile, track chimpanzees in the Budongo forest as well as watch birds in the Bigodi wetland.

Day 1: To Top of Murchison Falls

Murchison hours from your place of accommodation in the capital Kampala, you will be collected by the guide and then drive North West past the renowned Luwero Triangle past Masindi, to the park through Kichumanyombo Gate. At the peak of the waterfalls, you will enjoy a picnic lunch and encounter the trebling of the rocks as the Nile bursts out of the 7 meters wide gorge. From there you will dine and slumber at either Paraa safari Lodge which will necessitate you to board the ferry to the other side, or at Red Chili. Meal plan: lunch & dinner. Travel time: 4 to 5 hours.

Day 2 Morning Game Drive, afternoon Launch Trip

Following an early breakfast at 6:30 am, set out on a guided morning game drive along the interesting Albert Track or the intriguing Queen’s track found on the northern section of the river. There you may enjoy views of Uganda kob, lions, buffaloes, leopards, elephants, warthogs, giraffes and Jackson’s hartebeest among others. After lunch, you will go for a lunch cruise on the Victoria Nile up to the bottom of the waterfalls. You will enjoy the sights of numerous hippos, waterbucks and crocodiles basking on the rich river banks. There is a great array of birds like the African fish eagles, herons, ducks, Kingfishers, Shoebill, Cormorants and bee-eaters that you will see. Later return to Paraa Safari Lodge or Red Chilli Camp for dinner and the night. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking

In the early morning go for a nature walk in Budongo Forest. There you will be marvelled at the sounds of the chattering black & white colobus monkeys, Olive baboons, chimpanzees or Vervet monkeys. There are also numerous bird species like Spotted Morning Thrush, Buff-bellied Warbler, black-headed Gonolek, Blue-naped Mousebird, black-headed Batis and the silver bird among others. Have a picnic lunch and then have an optional evening game drive. Dine and sleep in Masindi or at Court View Hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Day 4: To Kibale

Kibale safari Uganda following a hefty breakfast, you will travel southwest to the intriguing Kibale Forest. Have lunch in Hoima. From there continue to the park where you will in the evening. Dine and slumber at Kibale Primate Lodge or at Ndali Lodge. Meal Plan: lunch & dinner. Travel time: 6 to 8 hours.

Day 5: Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking

After an early breakfast, have a briefing from the park ranger who will guide you through the chimp tracking. This forest is also famed for its numerous red-tailed monkeys which can only be seen in this forest, bush pigs, duikers, golden cats, bushbucks and warthogs. You will enjoy a picnic lunch within the verdant forest. Return for a revitalizing drink, dinner and slumber at Kibale Primate Lodge or at Ndali Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Day 6: Bigodi Wetland Bird Walk

Following breakfast in the early morning, you will enjoy another nature expedition within the Bigodi Swamp which is a habitat for several bird species and wetland dwellers. You will view various bird species like the yellow spotted nicator, purple-headed, White-headed wood-hoopoe, Petits Cuckoo-shrike, hornbills, hairy-breasted yellow barbets, chestnut-winged starlings, Dark-backed Yellow-mantled weavers and the Black-capped Apalis. Dine and slumber at Kibale Primate Lodge or at Ndali Lodge Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Day 7: To Kampala or Entebbe

After having breakfast, you will drive back to the capital through Mubende to either Kampala or directly to Entebbe. Travel time: 5 hours.
