Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Goma, DR Congo

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet your Go Safaris Africa guide for a briefing. After lunch, embark on a scenic drive to Goma, DR Congo, passing through Rwanda’s rolling hills and Lake Kivu’s shores. Complete border formalities and check in at your lodge in Goma.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park

After an early breakfast, drive to the Virunga National Park headquarters for a briefing on mountain gorilla trekking. Hike through the lush jungle with expert guides, searching for a habituated gorilla family. Spend one hour observing these incredible primates before trekking back.

Day 3: Scenic Drive to Bukavu via Lake Kivu

Depart Virunga and enjoy a breathtaking drive along Lake Kivu towards Bukavu, the gateway to Kahuzi-Biega National Park. Along the way, stop for lunch and enjoy stunning views before checking into your lodge in Bukavu.

Day 4: Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi-Biega National Park

Today, embark on an eastern lowland gorilla trekking adventure in Kahuzi-Biega National Park. These gorillas, larger than their mountain cousins, live in Congo’s lowland rainforests. Spend an hour observing their fascinating behaviors before returning to Bukavu.

Day 5: Boat Ride to Ijwi Island – Cultural Experience
