About Go Safaris Africa — Kigali’s Gorilla Trekking and Safari Experts
Go Safaris Africa is not a travel agency sitting behind a desk in London or New York selling African holidays. We are a Kigali-based safari operator — born in Rwanda operating in Rwanda and deeply rooted in the communities forests and wildlife that make East Africa the greatest wildlife destination on Earth.
We live two hours from the mountain gorillas. We know every trail in Volcanoes National Park every ranger at Kinigi headquarters and every gorilla family by name. When you book with us you are not booking through an intermediary — you are booking directly with the people who will be there with you when the silverback turns and looks into your eyes.
Our Story
Go Safaris Africa was founded in Kigali with a simple but powerful conviction: that extraordinary wildlife experiences done responsibly and guided by genuine local expertise can change the way people see the world — and in doing so can help protect the wild places and animals that make those experiences possible.
We began with gorillas. Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park is our backyard — and the mountain gorillas that inhabit it are the reason we do what we do. Over the years we expanded our operations across Uganda Kenya Tanzania and the DRC — but our heart has always been in the misty Virunga volcanoes where mountain gorilla families raise their young in one of Africa’s most ancient and extraordinary landscapes.
Today Go Safaris Africa guides gorilla treks chimpanzee safaris Big Five game drives honeymoon itineraries family adventures and luxury escapes across the full East Africa circuit — always with the same local knowledge genuine passion and commitment to responsible tourism that we started with.
What Makes Us Different
We Are Actually Here
Our office is at Prince House Second Floor Office #5 Kigali Rwanda — 110 km from Volcanoes National Park. When you call our number a real person in Kigali picks up. When your guide meets you at the airport he drove from Kigali that morning. When something goes wrong — which occasionally happens in Africa — our team is in the same time zone on the same roads and at the same parks as you.
This is the single most important thing that separates Go Safaris Africa from overseas operators selling Rwanda and Uganda safaris from offices in Europe or North America. We are not interpreting East Africa for you from a distance. We are in it every day.
We Know the Gorillas Personally
Our guides have trekked Volcanoes National Park hundreds of times. They know which gorilla families are best for photography which are calmer for first-time trekkers and which silverbacks are most likely to approach close. They know the rangers by name the trackers by their tracking techniques and the forest by its sounds.
This level of knowledge is not something you read in a guidebook. It is built through years of early morning drives to Kinigi hundreds of hours in the forest and a genuine love for the extraordinary animals we have chosen to dedicate our working lives to.
We Are Conservation Driven
Every safari we operate contributes directly to gorilla conservation. The permit fees we facilitate fund anti-poaching patrols gorilla health monitoring and community development projects that give local people a genuine stake in protecting the forest.
We are committed to low-volume high-value tourism — limiting group sizes maximising wildlife welfare and ensuring that every client interaction with wildlife is respectful responsible and sustainable.
We support the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and work with the Rwanda Development Board and Uganda Wildlife Authority to ensure our operations meet the highest standards of conservation tourism. Read our complete Dian Fossey Rwanda guide to understand the conservation legacy we are honoured to be part of.
We Are Transparent
Safari pricing in East Africa can be opaque — hidden fees unexpected extras and unclear inclusions are unfortunately common in the industry. At Go Safaris Africa we do not do this.
Every quote we provide includes a clear itemised breakdown — permit costs accommodation transport guiding fees and park entry. No surprises on arrival. No hidden extras at checkout. What we quote is what you pay.
