How It Works — Booking Your Safari with Go Safaris Africa

Booking a gorilla trekking safari or East Africa wildlife adventure with Go Safaris Africa is straightforward — we handle all the complexity so you can focus on the excitement. Here is exactly how the process works from your first enquiry to your final day in the wild.

Step 1 — Tell Us Your Dream

Contact us by email WhatsApp or phone and tell us:

  • Your preferred dates — when you want to travel
  • Your group size — how many people are travelling
  • Your budget — approximate per-person budget helps us tailor the right experience
  • Your interests — gorilla trekking only? Combined with other parks? Luxury or budget?
  • Your fitness level — important for gorilla family assignment and trek difficulty

There is no commitment at this stage — just a conversation. We love talking about East Africa and helping travellers understand their options.

Step 2 — We Design Your Itinerary

Within 24–48 hours we send you a personalised safari itinerary including:

  • Day-by-day programme — what you will do each day
  • Accommodation recommendations — matched to your budget and preferences
  • Full cost breakdown — permits accommodation transport guiding park fees
  • Practical information — visa requirements vaccinations packing advice

Everything is clearly itemised. No hidden costs. No surprises.

If anything is not quite right we adjust until the itinerary is exactly what you want. This process costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Step 3 — Secure Your Gorilla Permit First

This is the most important step — and the one most travellers get wrong.

Gorilla permits must be booked before anything else. Peak season permits sell out 6–12 months in advance. We check real-time permit availability for your preferred dates and advise on the best options.

Once you are happy with your itinerary and want to proceed:

  1. We send you a booking form and deposit invoice
  2. You pay the 30% deposit to confirm your booking
  3. We immediately purchase your gorilla permit from the Rwanda Development Board or Uganda Wildlife Authority
  4. You receive written permit confirmation — your most important travel document

Read our Rwanda gorilla permit guide and Uganda gorilla permit guide for full permit information.

Step 4 — We Arrange Everything

Once your deposit is received and your permit is secured we arrange every detail of your safari:

  • Accommodation bookings — lodges and guesthouses confirmed
  • Transport arrangements — vehicle assigned and routes planned
  • Guide assignment — your specific guide confirmed
  • Activity bookings — golden monkey permits boat safaris cultural visits
  • Border crossing logistics (for Uganda-Rwanda combined safaris)
  • Domestic flight bookings (where included in your package)
  • Pre-departure information pack — everything you need to prepare

Step 5 — Final Payment and Pre-Departure

60 days before departure — your balance payment is due. For bookings made within 60 days full payment is required at booking.

Once final payment is received you receive:

  • Full confirmation documents — all bookings confirmed in writing
  • Emergency contact details — our 24/7 number for anything that comes up
  • Pre-departure checklist — visa requirements vaccination advice packing list
  • Your driver-guide’s contact details — so you can connect before arrival

Step 6 — Your Safari Begins

Your driver-guide meets you at the airport on arrival day. From that moment you are in expert hands — we handle everything while you focus entirely on the extraordinary experience ahead.

Throughout your safari:

  • Your guide is with you every day — briefings game drives transfers
  • Our office team is available 24/7 by WhatsApp for any questions
  • Any issues are resolved quickly by people who are on the ground in the same country as you

Step 7 — After Your Safari

After you return home we love to hear about your experience. Your feedback helps us improve and your review helps future travellers find us.

We also stay in touch — many of our clients return for a second safari or recommend us to friends and family. The relationship does not end when your safari does.

Frequently Asked Questions About Booking

How far in advance should I book? For peak season gorilla trekking (June–September) book 6–12 months ahead. For other months 2–4 months is usually sufficient. Contact us as early as possible — we can check availability immediately.

Can I change my itinerary after booking? Yes — changes are usually possible subject to availability. Some changes (particularly permit date changes) may incur fees. See our Terms and Conditions.

What if I need to cancel? See our cancellation policy in our Terms and Conditions. We strongly recommend travel insurance covering cancellation.

Is a gorilla permit refundable? No — gorilla permits are non-refundable once purchased by the park authorities. Travel insurance covering permit cancellation is essential.

What payment methods do you accept? Bank transfer credit card and Pesapal secure online payment. All amounts are in US dollars.

Do you arrange international flights? We do not book international flights but we advise on the best routes and connections and time your safari around your flights.
