Akagera National Park is one of Africa’s great conservation comeback stories. Devastated after the 1994 genocide when thousands of returning refugees settled in the park, Akagera lost most of its large wildlife. Since 2010 — under a management partnership between the Rwanda Development Board and African Parks — the park has been transformed.
